Shipping policy
Most of the equipment we sell is too large and too heavy for parcel carriers, so it ships by LTL freight on a truck. Freight delivery works differently from a package on your doorstep, and this page explains what to expect.
Where we ship and what it costs
We ship within the United States. A small number of states and territories are outside our delivery area and will not be offered a shipping rate at checkout.
- Orders of $499 and over ship free.
- Orders under $499 ship at a flat $6.
- Freight cannot be delivered to a PO box.
How long it takes
Plan on 7 to 14 business days from order to delivery. That window covers order processing, release to the freight carrier, transit, and the carrier's scheduling call. Smaller parts and accessories that ship by ground parcel usually arrive sooner.
Curbside delivery, and what you need to have ready
Freight equipment is delivered curbside. The driver brings the shipment to the end of your driveway or to the curb outside your building and lowers it to the ground. Drivers do not bring equipment inside, into a bay, or up a driveway, and they do not uncrate or install it.
Before your delivery date, make sure you have:
- Someone at the address who can accept and sign for the shipment.
- A way to move the crate off the curb - a forklift, a pallet jack on level ground, or enough people and equipment to handle several hundred pounds safely.
- Clear access for a tractor-trailer. Narrow lanes, low branches, tight turns and steep driveways are common reasons a delivery fails.
If your address has no dock, forklift or pallet jack, tell us when you order and we will arrange a liftgate so the shipment can be lowered to the ground. Let us know before the item ships - adding a liftgate after the fact is not always possible.
The scheduling call
For freight shipments the carrier telephones you to arrange a delivery appointment, usually a few days before the truck arrives. Please give us a phone number you actually answer at checkout. If the carrier cannot reach you, the shipment sits at the terminal and the delivery is delayed.
Carriers charge for missed appointments, storage at the terminal and redelivery attempts. Those charges are passed on to the customer, so it is worth being available for the appointment you agree to.
Inspect the shipment before you sign
Check the crate and the equipment before the driver leaves, and write any damage on the delivery receipt or bill of lading before signing. A receipt signed clean is treated by carriers as proof the shipment arrived intact, and freight claims are routinely denied on that basis. Photograph anything that looks wrong and email info@tourquebay.com within 48 hours with your order number.
Address changes and questions
If you need to change the delivery address, do it before the item is released to the carrier. Once a shipment is in transit, carriers charge a reconsignment fee to redirect it. Email info@tourquebay.com with your order number and we will tell you what is still possible.
